I’m excited to present the endnote speech at the 2019 Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC) National Oncology Conference. I’ll be discussing the unique needs of what I call the “modern” cancer patient, ages 30-55. We’re not just getting treatment for cancer–we’re taking care of kids or taking care of our aging parents; we’re running small businesses or launching new ones; we’re mid-career and using our 401K to pay for cancer expenses; we’re married, divorced, or in a partnership. I’ll be talking about how to reach and help these patients more effectively based on my own experience and the hundreds of “modern” cancer patients I’ve met over the past seven years.
The ACCC is the leading advocacy and education organization for the multidisciplinary cancer care team. Their membership encompasses all disciplines of the team, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncologists; cancer program administrators and medical directors; practice managers; oncology nurses; pharmacists; radiation therapists; social workers; patient navigators; and more.
